DSME to build LNG carrier for Sovcomflot
South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering Co. has won a US$ 367.4 million order to build an icebreaking LNG carrier for Russian shipping company Sovcomflot.
DSME will deliver the carrier by the end of June 2016. A spokesman for the company said the order is the first of 16 gas carriers agreed in July 2013, as part of a slot reservation agreement, which reserves docks for future vessel construction.
The LNG carrier is intended for use in Russia’s Yamal LNG development project.
