Port of Rotterdam has announced that STX Offshore & Shipbuilding has started constructing an LNG bunker vessel that will operate from the port in the Netherlands.
The ‘launching customer’ is Containerships Ltd Oy., which will send six 1400 TEU dual-fuel vessels, which are currently under construction in China, to be bunkered at the port.
The ship will begin operations in mid-2017 – six months after the break bulk jetty is opened at Gate terminal.
The vessel will have a capacity of 6500 m3 and will distribute LNG throughout northwestern Europe from the Gate terminal.
