Meyer Werft has floated out its 50th cruise ship, the Iona, which is being built by the shipyard on behalf of UK-based P&O Cruises.
The Iona was due to be leaving the covered building dock II at the Meyer Werft shipyard in the night from 13 February to 14 February.
The ship has a rating of 184 000 GRT and measures 344.5 m in length and 4 m in width, with capacity for 5200 passengers. The vessel will be powered entirely by LNG.
Once the Iona has left the dock, it will berth at the shipyard’s out-fitting pier to be fitted with its funnel cladding. The ship will then remain in the shipyard port for further out-fitting work and onboard trials until its passage through the river Ems up to the North Sea, which is expected to take place end of March.
