MOL to charter LNG carrier newbuilds
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Ltd (MOL) announced that, through a joint venture ship-owning company with Itochu Corp., it has signed LNG carrier charter agreements with E.ON Global Commodities (EGC).
The joint venture also signed an agreement with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd’s shipyard in Korea, to build two new 179 900 m3 LNG carriers, which will be used to fulfil the charter requirements with EGC.
MOL will manage the two new vessels, which will transport LNG from a shale gas liquefying plant in North America to Europe and other destinations.
EGC is the energy trading arm of E.ON SE. As the commercial hub for E.ON to the international wholesale markets, it sources, stores, transports, markets and trades energy commodities on a global scale.
