Alfa Laval wins heat exchanger order

LNG Industry,

Alfa Laval has received its first order for a new compact heat exchanger for gas-fuel conditioning.

The order, which has come from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), is worth approximately SEK24 million. Deliveries will commence this year and are expected to be completed in 2016.

The compact heat exchangers will have a dual functionality, since they will be installed onboard six LNG carriers to be built by DSME. They will re-liquefy the boil-off gas (BOG) from the tanks and simultaneously condition the fuel gas for the engine.

Commenting on the contract win, Lars Renström, President and CEO of the Alfa Laval Group, said: “This order proves that Alfa Laval is a company that quickly reacts to changing customer demands by continuously adding new and innovative products to its offering. To the marine industry, we can now offer solutions to handle alternative fuels, such as liquefied natural gas, on top of our offering for diesel-driven vessels.
