Mitsui concludes time charter parties
Mitsui & Co. Ltd has made progress with the procurement of eight LNG carriers to be used to the delivery of LNG from the Cameron LNG project in the US, mainly to Japanese customers.
In addition to the five ships with time charter parties signed in September 2014, and the two charter parties signed in January 2015, Mitsui has recently contracted the eighth vessel.
This contract conclusion brings the total maximum charter hire amount for the combined eight ships to approximately 700 billion Japanese yen.
The eighth vessel is a newly built 178 000 m3 membrane type LNG carrier, owned by Trinity LNG Transport S.A. The charter will commence around 2020, and is for a maximum period of 25 years.
Trinity LNG Transport is a joint venture company between Imabari Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd and Mitsui.
