RS selected to class Gazprom Flot’s latest FSRU

The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) has announced that it has been chosen to class a floating storage regasification unit (FSRU), which being built by Hyundai Heavy Industries for Gazprom Flot.
RS will survey the FSRU during construction to make sure that it complies with its rules, as well as all other relevant national and international standards. The vessel will feature anti-icing protection, allowing it to operate at temperatures as low as -30 degrees Celsius. The Arc4 ice class will allow the vessel to operate in average one-year ice up to 0.9 m thick in both summer and autumn.
The 82 140 DWT vessel will be 287 m in length, have a breadth of 46.4 m, a draught of 264 m, and will have an LNG storage capacity of 174 100 m3. It is scheduled for delivery in late 2017.
