Teekay has announced that its LNG vessel, Creole Spirit, has successfully sailed out from the Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) shipyard, in order for it to complete its sea trials.

Creole Spirit is the first of nine LNG newbuilds, which will all be equipped with dual-fuel two stroke MEGI engines supplied by Man Diesel & Turbo. Once complete, Teekay claims it will be the most efficient LNG ship, and have the lowest unit freight cost, in the world.

The vessel is expected to have passed the trials be ready for service by January 2016, and will be on a contract charter with Cheniere.
