Reuters is reporting that Mercuria Energy Group are in the process of assembling a team to run an LNG trading desk, having hired three LNG traders who recently resigned from positions at EDF’s trading arm.
According to Reuters sources, Julien Bourdeau, Andrea Nardella and James Bloom all resigned from positions at JERA and EDF’s new LNG trading venture within the last two weeks.
Pre-dating the recent hirings, Guillaume Vermersch, Mercuria’s Chief Financial Officer, stated in March that Mercuria had plans to enter the LNG trading market by the end of the year. These plans for a new LNG trading desk will complement the company’s established natural gas asset portfolio.
