MOL launches Indonesian coastal LNG shuttle transport project

Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) has released a statement claiming that it has joined forces with PT Pelindo Energi Logistik – a partner in Indonesia – to launch the joint operation of the Triputra LNG carrier, which has conducted the project’s initial discharging operation at the Port of Benoa, Bali Island.
The Triputra is 151.03 m long, and has a breadth of 28 m, a draft of 7.018 m and a cargo tank capacity of 23 014 m3. It was constructed in 2000, and was formerly known as the Surya Satsuma.
This is the second coastal shuttle transport project, and follows one serving for West Java, in which a vessel shuttle-transports LNG to the Port of Benoa, where it then discharges it to a floating storage unit (FSU).
The charterer, PEL, is aiming to develop a gas value chain using the method of transferring LNG from the FSU to the floating regasification unit (FRU), which is moored at the pier. Once the LNG has been regasified, it will be sent to a power plant in Bali.
