Gorgon LNG expected to resume production within 30 – 60 days

Following the recent news that a mechanical issue with a cooling unit had halted export operations at Chevron’s Gorgon LNG project in Australia, Reuters reports that the facility should resume production within 30 – 60 days.

Chevron reportedly said: “Train 1 ramp-up to full capacity is still expected to occur over six to eight months from initial start-up (in March) of the facility. Meanwhile, construction activities continue to progress on LNG Trains 2 and 3 with timing not affected by the work on Train 1.”

The first LNG cargo only left the facility in March 2016 via Chevron’s Asia Excellence LNG carrier, and has now reportedly reached its end destination – Japan’s Chubu Electric.
