Sakhalin Energy offloads milestone LNG cargo

In January 2015, Sakhalin Energy offloaded the 900th cargo of LNG.

The Prigorodnoye production complex has now been in operation for almost six years, delivering hydrocarbons to customers in the Asia-Pacific Region.

LNG delivery

The milestone LNG cargo, with a capacity of 145 000 m³, was intended for the Japanese company Kushyu Electric Power, and was offloaded from the Grand Aniva LNG carrier.

Sakhalin Energy and Kushyu Electric Power commenced their partnership in 20014. A total of 55 cargoes have been delivered to the customer since the LNG plant commenced operations.

Asia-Pacific market

LNG from the Sakhalin plant has been delivered a number of countries, including Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, India and Kuwait. Thanks to Sakhalin Energy, Russia has become one of the key players in the Asia-Pacific market. The company’s LNG plant provides over 4% of the global LNG supply.

According to Peter Norman, LNG Manager: “The year 2014 was quite difficult in terms of production reliability, however, we have fulfilled the annual plan of LNG supplies, and the main thing is that the customers have not lost confidence in reliability of our company as an energy source supplier.”
