Tokyo Gas receives first LNG delivery from Curtis Island

LNG Industry,

Tokyo Gas Co. Ltd has received the first shipment of LNG from the Queensland Curtis LNG (QCLNG) project in Australia.

The shipment arrived at the Tokyo Gas Sodegaura LNG Terminal in Sodegaura City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. This is the first delivery to Japan of LNG from unconventional natural gas sources under a long-term supply contract.

Tokyo Gas concluded an LNG sale and purchase agreement with BG Group in March 2011, regarding deliveries of LNG from the QCLNG project.

The delivery of approximately 70 000 t of LNG is enough to meet the annual city gas consumption needs of some 220 000 households.

This is the third delivery of LNG from projects in which Tokyo Gas has secured participation rights, following the Darwin LNG and Pluto LNG projects. With this delivery, Tokyo Gas now receives LNG from 11 projects in five countries.
