Gorgon’s second LNG cargo expected in coming days

According to Reuters, Chevron’s Gorgon LNG project is on schedule to load its second LNG cargo in the next few days. This follows the recent news that a minor gas leak had led to the evacuation of the facility’s employees.
Reuters reports that project was temporarily shut down in April 2016 due to technical problems. This occurred only shortly after the first cargo was loaded and shipped to Japan’s Chubu Electric Power via Chevron’s Asia Excellence LNG carrier.
Chevron, the project operator, holds a 47.3% stake in the Gorgon joint venture (JV), whilst Shell and ExxonMobil both hold 25%. Osaka Gas, Tokyo Gas and Chubu Electric Power hold the remaining 1.25%, 1% and 0.5%, respectively.
Once all three of the liquefaction trains are in operation, the Gorgon LNG project will have a total production capacity of 15.6 million tpy of LNG.
