Coda Octopus has announced that it supplied multiple real-time 3D Echoscope® sonar solutions and engineer support for the Shell Prelude LNG Offshore Installation Campaign in the Browse Basin off the North Western coast of Australia.

In February 2016, the Echoscope systems were installed on two construction class ROVs. Along with CodaOctopus® Underwater Survey Explorer software, the systems generated real-time images, which were a useful and productive aid in assisting the ROV pilots and survey teams with navigation around the subsea work site. They also helped the teams perform asset placement tasks such as mud-mats, manifolds, Christmas trees and suction piles.

The Echoscope is the world’s first and highest resolution real-time 3D sonar. Built around unique patented technology, it generates a complete 3D model, composed of over 16 000 soundings, from each and every acoustic transmission. This 3D model is entirely refreshed up to 12 times per second with each new transmission.

The Echoscope is driven by CodaOctopus® Vantage and CodaOctopus® Underwater Survey Explorer (CodaOctopus® USE), which is a range of state-of-the-art software for recording, displaying, processing and reporting on Echoscope real-time 3D sonar data. CodaOctopus USE will enable the operator to view the subsea scene in the highest definition possible.
