According to the latest Reuters report, representatives from Total are due to meet with Algerian authorities regarding the company’s plans to acquire Anadarko’s Algerian assets.
The company is apparently unconcerned about the talks, despite reports suggesting Algiers will block the deal.
At a recent Total shareholders meeting, Chief Executive Patrick Pouyanne stated, “We are not worried. It is normal that authorities seek to have dialogue with their principal partners.”
Meanwhile, when asked about his earlier comments regarding the potential for Total’s deal to be blocked, Algeria’s energy minister replied that he intends to seek a “good compromise”.
