SBM Offshore appoints COO

SBM Offshore has appointed Philippe Barril as Chief Operating Officer (COO), effective 1 March 2015.
Mr Barril’s appointment as a member of the Management Board is subject to approval at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders to be held on 15 April.
Mr Barril joins the company from Technip, where he most recently held the position of President and COO. He has over 25 years of experience across the oilfield engineering and construction industry.
As COO, Mr Barril will be responsible for overseeing project execution, business acquisition and fleet operations. His extensive experience will be instrumental in carrying out the SBM Offshore’s commitment to its clients to deliver safely, on time and budget.
Bruno Chabas, CEO of SBM Offshore, said: “I am excited that Philippe will be joining the SBM Offshore executive management team. He is an experienced veteran of our industry and brings a wealth of relevant operating experience to the company, and I am confident that he will quickly become a valued member of our team.”
