LNG Industry,
A joint venture (JV) company has been established by PTT Retail Business Co. Ltd (PTTRB) – a subsidiary of PTT Public Co. Ltd (PTT) – and a Thai subsidiary of Osaka Gas Co. Ltd – Osaka Gas (Thailand) Co. Ltd (OGT). This JV is OGP Energy Solutions Co. Ltd (OGPS), and will focus on serving the Thai market. OGT will hold 60% of the shares, whilst PTTRB will hold 40%. The two shareholders have worked together before, as Osaka Gas Group has previously provided technical and operational support for PTT’s LNG-receiving terminal.
The Osaka Gas Group aims to expand its downstream operations outside of Japan. Before this JV, Osaka Gas Group’s business in Thailand centered mostly on Japanese companies. However, with the establishment of OGPS, it will be able to make deals with both Japanese and non-Japanese companies in Thailand because of its own engineering ability and the branding of PTT – the largest corporate energy group in Thailand.
OGPS will cover the supply of natural gas, equipment leasing, maintenance and facility design, allowing its Thai customers to implement fuel conversion to LNG.
