Barrasso highlights LNG export benefits

LNG Industry,

US Senator John Barrasso has highlighted the potential of LNG exports to create jobs and reduce the trade deficit.

The US Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources released the first in a series of videos to highlight the priorities of the Republican members of the committee for the 114th Congress.

In this first video, Barrasso highlighted the vast reserves of coal, natural gas, and uranium Wyoming, explaining that the state “takes great pride in balancing environmental stewardship with responsible energy production.”

Barrasso called for the passage of S. 33, the LNG Permitting Certainty and Transparency Act. This bipartisan energy legislation, co-authored by Barrasso and Senator Martin Heinrich, would streamline the review process for exports of US LNG.

“America is the world’s largest producer of natural gas and we have the resources to be a major exporter of this versatile fuel. We just need Washington to provide regulatory certainty so that investors have confidence that projects will be permitted in a timely manner,” Barrasso said. “LNG exports will create jobs all across the country plus reduce our nation’s trade deficit. These exports will also help strengthen the energy security of key US allies and strategic partners around the world who are eager to buy America’s natural gas.”
