GTT has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to equip a new LNG carrier (LNGC) with its new membrane containment system Mark III Flex+.
Offering a capacity of 180 000 m3, this unit will be built at SHI’s yard in South Korea, on behalf of a European shipowner. Its delivery is scheduled for Q2 of 2020.
The Mark III Flex+ solution enables a daily boil-off rate of 0.07%V, thanks to an increased insulation thickness and a reinforced arrangement of the secondary barrier. This will be the second LNGC equipped with this latest development of the Mark III technology.
Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT, declared: “We are very pleased with this second order for our all new Mark III Flex+ technology from our partner in excellence, Samsung Heavy Industries, with whom we have launched this technology. We can now offer an unequalled daily boil-off rate of 0.07%.”
