They will be built to the same design as the other vessels, and will be constructed at Avic Dingheng Shipbuilding Ltd. Both vessels will be delivered in 2018 – 2019. Furetank and Älvtank will own one vessel each. Gothia now has six modern tankers in order: three for Furetank; two for Älvtank; and one for Thun Tankers.
The design has been developed by FKAB with Furetank with a particular focus on minimising environmental impact. The vessels will meet Tier III rules, and will feature dual-fuel/LNG propulsion, including LNG in port consumption, LNG for inert gas production, power production with floating frequency, battery backup (UPS) for all vital functions to minimise the use of auxiliary engines, installed ballast water cleaning system, ice class 1A and Alternative Propulsion System.
