GTT receives tank design order for two new LNG carriers

GTT has released a statement claiming that it has received an order from Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) for the tank design of two LNG carriers.

Each tank will have a capacity of 180 000 m³, and will be constructed on behalf of the European shipowner Celsius. The tanks will be fitted with the Mark III Flex containment system.

According to the statement, the vessels are expected to be delivered by the end of 2020.

The Chairman and CEO of GTT, Philippe Berterottière, said: “We are very pleased to continue our excellent partnership with SHI with these two new orders and to accompany Celsius in its entry into the LNG industry.”

INEOS and Covestro have announced a long-term agreement for the supply of natural gas for up to eight years, starting in 2027.
