Mark Begor, the Energy Management President and CEO of GE, has announced that Stephan Reimelt has been made the new President and CEO of GE’s Power Conversion business. Power Conversion operates in 160 locations and has 7000 employees. During Joe Mastrangelo’s – the former President and CEO of Power Conversion – tenure, the company backlog rose to US$3.5 billion. This will become a crucial part of an Energy Management business, which will be worth US$13 billion when it merges with Alstom Grid Solutions.

In this new role, Reimelt will aim to increase commercial growth, whilst also overseeing the completion and expansion of global projects, using his experience with GE, MAN Ferrostaal AG, Lurgi AG, and his own technology enterprise. Reimelt will operate from the company headquarters in Paris.

John Rice, the Vice Chairman of GE, said: “In his time with the company Stephan has demonstrated his ability to deliver results by driving major transformations across our energy portfolio in Germany. His deep industry experience and relentless customer focus make him the right leader to drive growth for GE Power Conversion.”

Mark Begor added: “Stephan transformed GE in Germany and strengthened GE’s growth strategy and operations in Europe. He brings a wide range of industry and entrepreneurial experience to GE. His passion for technology, his global mind-set and customer focus will help GE Power Conversion continue to set the new industry standard.”

Joe Mastrangelo, meanwhile, will be appointed President and CEO of Power Generation Products for GE Power & Water.
