Saga LNG Shipping’s LNT Marine LNG A-BOX LNG carrier, Saga Dawn, has departed on its maiden voyage after loading its first full cargo at Singapore LNG.
Saga Dawn is the world’s first LNG carrier featuring an IMO type A LNG containment system, based on LNT Marine’s patented LNT A-BOX design. The ABS-classed, 45 000 m3 capacity, vessel was built at China Merchants Heavy Industry’s Jiangsu yard and features Wärtsilä dual-fuel main and auxiliary engines.
Saga LNG Shipping is currently in the final stages of development for an 80 000 m3 LNGC design with a 9 m fully laden draft, aimed at regional imports into Chinese terminals. Saga has further developed and obtained approvals in principle (AiP) for its shallow draft 28 500 m3 ‘Wuhan Max’ and 12 000 m3 ‘Yichang Max’ designs aimed at opening up trade along China’s Yangtze River.
“Today we celebrate yet another major milestone for our company, our vessel, and LNT Marine’s LNT A-BOX technology. As Saga Dawn departs on her maiden voyage, we would like to take a moment to thank Singapore LNG, our business partners, and all the parties involved for their hard work and excellent support in making this first loading a success”, says David Wu, Founder and CEO of Saga LNG Shipping.
