Monadelphous nets Ichthys LNG contract

Engineering group Monadelphous has been awarded a major construction contract for mechanical works at the Ichthys LNG (liquefied natural gas) project in Darwin, Australia.

The agreement is with lead contractor, JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC), a joint venture between JGC Corporation and Chiyoda Corporation, and KBR (Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd). The contract is worth approximately AU$ 680 million.

The scope of the work included the erection of piping, mechanical and structural steel for the Utility and Offsite Area. Work will begin immediately and is scheduled to be complete by mid-2016.

Monadelphous managing director, Rob Velletri, commented: “We are very pleased to be awarded such a significant contract and to be participating on one of Australia’s world-class gas projects.

The Ichthys LNG facility is a project to develop the Ichthys gas and condensate field in the Browse Basin, approximately 220 km offshore Western Australia. The project is a joint venture between Inpex group companies, Total, and Australian subsidiaries of Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Chubu Electric Power and Toho Gas.
