Chart Industries, Inc. has announced that it has been awarded a contract by LGM Engineering to supply four LNG fuel tanks for their marine fuel gas systems that will power two 22 000 dwt chemical tankers with clean burning natural gas.
The ships will be built in Wuhu Shipyard, China. The ship owner is Rederi AB Donsötank from Sweden.
Each of the 300 m3 capacity cryogenic tanks comprises double stainless steel shells with vacuum and perlite insulation. The tanks will be designed and manufactured at Chart’s Changzhou, China facility and classified by DNV GL in accordance with associated regulations.
“We thank LGM Engineering for this order and are excited to be working with them on this project. With IMO 2020 regulations coming into force on 1 January reducing the maximum sulfur content of marine fuel from the current 3.5% to 0.5%, Chart’s technology is integral to the increased number of LNG powered ships on international waters and the bunkering infrastructure required to fuel them”, said Robert Chen, President Chart D&S Asia.
