Total has released a statement claiming that a strategic cooperation agreement has been signed with China National Petroleum Co. (CNPC), extending the existing collaboration between the two parties.
Over the last 10 years, the partnership between the two companies has extended into a number of fields. For instance, they have collaborated on the Sulige gas field in Inner Mongolia, Halfaya in Iraq, Kashagan in Kazakhstan, Libra in Brazil, and the Yamal LNG project in Russia.
Patrick Pouyanné, the Chairman and CEO of Total, said: “This strategic cooperation agreement reflects our respective commitment to strengthening our partnership and jointly developing new projects.
“In particular, Total will share with CNPC its expertise in the areas of safety and environment, human resources and social responsibility. The agreement further strengthens the existing partnership to support the international strategy of CNPC’s affiliate PetroChina.”
