IOGP elects new Chair

The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) has elected a new Chair, Monika Hausenblas, Royal Dutch Shell’s Executive Vice President Safety & Environment.

Ms. Hausenblas was elected at the February meeting of the Association’s Management Committee. She succeeds John Chaplin of ExxonMobil.

Commenting on her new position, Ms. Hausenblas, said: “In the midst of cost and complexity escalation, oil price decline, climate change challenges and societal expectations, the industry’s need for an impactful voice is greater than ever. I believe IOGP is the most credible organization to be that voice. I am honoured to have been elected the Chair of IOGP at this crucial juncture in our industry’s history. I would also like to thank my predecessor for his hard work and for setting up the organisation for future success.”

Ms. Hausenblas joined Shell in 1992, after her university studies in Technical Physics in her home country, followed by a PhD in Solid State Physics, in Grenoble, France.

In more than 24 years with Shell, she has built a strong technical foundation as a petroleum engineer.

Reflecting the international nature of IOGP’s remit, Ms. Hausenblas’s Vice Chairs on IOGP’s Management Committee are Michel Contie of Total and Fawaz Bitar of BP.
