Veolia has announced that it has delivered an MPPE® water treatment unit for the Ichthys LNG project floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The unit will be used to treat the gas/condensate produced water stream on board the vessel, and will remove dissolved and dispersed toxic constituents, such as aromatic (BTEX), polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and oil, resulting in zero harmful discharge to the environment.

The ± 450 t MPPE module unit (19.1 x 16.5 x 18.2 m), containing two parallel MPPE units, has now been successfully delivered to Korea, and loaded onto the FPSO.

The Managing Director of Veolia MPP Systems, Erik Middelhoek, said: “We are very proud to deliver this high-tech water treatment system to help INPEX achieve their ambitious goals […] It was a challenging project with a fantastic end result.”

The INPEX-operated LNG project is expected to produce up to 8.9 million tpy of LNG, 1.6 million tpy of LPG, and 100 000 bbl/d of condensate at peak.
