Anadarko agrees Mozambique LNG export deal

According to the latest Reuters report, Anadarko Petroleum’s plans to export LNG from Mozambique have advanced a step closer to completion after the signing of a 15-year LNG sales and purchase agreement (SPA) with Electricite de France (EDF).
The French utility has agreed to purchase 1.2 million tpy of LNG from the Mozambique Area 1 marketing venture led by Anadarko and consisting of Mitsui, ONGC Videsh and PTT (among others).
In all, Anadarko has reportedly agreed commercial terms for 5.1 million tpy of LNG off-take deals from Mozambique, closing in on its 8.1 million tpy target needed to trigger a final investment decision (FID).
The Texas-based energy company is working on plans to build a plant – estimated to cost around US$15 billion – and start exporting LNG from Mozambique’s offshore Area 1 block in 2022 or 2023.
