Carnival to launch new LNG-fuelled cruise ship in 2019

These ships include: the Carnival Panorama from Carnival Cruise Line, which is expected to launch in December 2019; the Sky Princess from Princess Cruises, which is expected to launch in October 2019; the Costa Venezia from Costa Cruises, which is expected to launch in March 2019; and the Costa Smeralda from Costa Cruises, which is expected to launch in October 2019.
The Costa Smeralda will be Costa Cruises’ first vessel that can be powered in port and at sea by LNG.
It is scheduled to make its maiden voyage on 20 October, with a 15-day cruise from Hamburg, Germany, to Savona, Italy, with stops in Rotterdam, Lisbon, Barcelona and Marseille. Once at Savona, the official naming ceremony will be held. On 4 November, the vessel will carry out its inaugural six-day cruise from Savona, calling at Barcelona, Marseille and Rome. It will continue to sail in the Western Mediterranean until April 2020, with seven-day cruises calling on Savona, Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Civitavecchia and Le Spezia.
