Delays have hindered the project for several years up till now, as Indonesia requested Inpex to alter the design for the project, which had previously been for an offshore facility.
The Indonesian government have granted approval for the current project plan, as well as Inpex’s application for a 20-year extension to the production sharing contract (PSC).
The Masela project, also known as Abadi LNG, is estimated to cost US$20 billion and LNG production is expected to start by 2027 – 2028.
