Foster Wheeler to perform LNG study in Norway

Foster Wheeler AG has announced that a subsidiary of its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded a contract by Statoil Petroleum to perform a study on the Snøhvit liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Norway.

The company will define long-term solutions to achieve the Snøhvit partnership’s objectives of increasing the operating performance of the LNG facility. The Snøhvit Improvement Project 2 is located at Melkøya, 450 km north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. The study will also look at how to increase the capacity and feed gas flexibility of the plant.

The concept study is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2014. Foster Wheeler did not disclose the value of the contract.
