Wärtsilä signs MoU with PLN to develop power generation in Indonesia

Wärtsilä Corp. has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indonesian state power company, PT Perusahan Listrik Negara (PLN). Under the MoU, both companies have agreed to cooperate in the development of 500 MW of power generation solutions and related small scale LNG storage and regasification infrastructure in Indonesia. This power generation will be created through the installation of several projects over the coming two years. The MoU also places heavy emphasis on the further development of local Indonesian capability in power projects execution, knowledge transfer and local skills.

In 2015, the Indonesian government developed plans to ensure equal availability of reliable power supply throughout the entire archipelago. In order to attain this goal, the government set a target of adding 35 000 MW of power generation by 2019. This latest MoU will help reach this goal.

Javier Cavada, President Wärtsilä Energy Solutions, said: “Wärtsilä's proven capability to deliver high quality, efficient, and flexible power plant solutions on a fast-track basis is perfectly suited to the requirements of Indonesia.
