The Sefarina, the seagoing ship operated by Chemgas Shipping, has become the first ship in the port of Antwerp to be bunkered with LNG. Recently, the Sefarina also became the first ship to be granted a particulates discount.

The Antwerp Port Authority has promoted the use of LNG as a fuel. It is seeking a candidate to build and operate an LNG bunkering and filling station. Whilst the port of Antwerp has been able to bunker LNG since 2012, this has previously only happened with barges. In this process, trucks collect LNG at the Zeebrugge terminal and deliver it to the port of Antwerp, where it is then pumped into the ship.
