Sabine Pass requests authorisation to commence Train 3 commissioning

Sabine Pass Liquefaction LLC and Sabine Pass LNG LP have submitted a request to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) for authorisation to introduce fuel gas and commence commissioning activities for Train 3. Sabine Pass has requested approval to introduce fuel gas to Train 3 as soon as possible, but no later than 19 August 2016.

FERC granted authorisation for the siting, construction and operation of the Sabine Pass Liquefaction Project on 16 April 2012.

The facility is located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, US, and each of the trains in the facility has been designed to produce approximately 4.5 million tpy of LNG. Train 1 has been constructed and exported its first cargo in February 2016. Construction is almost complete for Train 2, with commissioning activities already underway. In May 2013, construction started on Trains 3 and 4. Construction on Train 5 followed in June 2015, and, according to the Cheniere website, all regulatory approvals have been received to both construct and operate Train 6, with a final investment decision (FID) expected to be made once commercial contracts and financing have been obtained.
