PNG LNG operator gives PGK48 000 to Salvation Army

ExxonMobil PNG Ltd – the operator of the Papua New Guinea LNG (PNG LNG) project – has given the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal PGK48 000. This is the fourth year in row that the company has offered its support, and will see the funds used by the Salvation Army to carry out social services programmes in local communities.

Andrew Barry, ExxonMobil PNG Managing Director, said: “Our support demonstrates our commitment to help support community services, at a regional level, by working with strong partners with expertise in providing much needed health and education services to communities in PNG.

"We are pleased to assist The Salvation Army continue their wonderful work.”

The Salvation Army PNG Territorial Commander Colonel, Andrew Westrupp, said: “The Salvation Army PNG Territory will use the donation from ExxonMobil PNG to fund literacy programs for children and adults in communities, feeding programs in the settlements, skills training for youth and adults, carry out awareness on HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence, street ministry, and fund its many rural health posts around PNG.”

The appeal for this year will be launched on 25 August at the Grand Papua Hotel in Port Moresby.
