Gazprom, Gasunie consider LNG cooperation
At a working meeting between Gazprom and Gasunie, Alexey Miller, Gazprom Chairman and Han Fennema, CEO of Gasunie, considered further cooperation in the LNG sector.
The two heads acknowledged the strength of the existing partnership between Gazprom and Gasunie, particularly with relevance to the Nord Stream project. The gas pipeline is performing an important function of diversifying the energy supply to Europe, as recognised by the companies.
In discussions regarding cooperation in the LNG sector, Miller and Fennema noted the need for infrastructure development to enable to widespread use of small scale LNG as a fuel for land and marine transport.
In 2013, Gazprom and Gasunie signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation between the companies in areas including gas infrastructure development, Nord Stream expansion, LNG, energy efficiency, innovative technologies, environmental protection, educational projects, information and cultural exchange.
