Bechtel completes APLNG heavy lift program
Bechtel has completed the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) project’s heavy lift program, with the setting of the final Train 2 module.
According to Bechtel’s Facebook page, module 202RA, which arrived on the job site in 2014, was set in place following the completion of the final concrete foundations required to safely set the module.
Over the past two years, a total of 69 modules, weighing more than 43 000 t, have been set in place on the APLNG job site. The weight is equivalent to 78 fully loaded Qantas Airbus A380s.
The successful placement of 202RA is a significant milestone for APLNG, with all 69 modules now in place and all big lifts on the job site complete. Most importantly, the heavy lift program was completed without any incidents or injuries.
