OLT Offshore LNG Toscana has announced the launch of the tender for the Peak Shaving service for the fifth consecutive year.

Starting from 7 – 22 November it will be possible to view and download all the documents necessary to participate in the public tender procedure from the company’s website.

The winner of the tender will need to supply an LNG carrier with a volume between 80 000 and 125 000 m3 for unloading at OLT terminal in the period of 1 – 31 December 2017. A part of the volumes, equal to 15 000 m3, will be purchased by OLT for the operational requirement of the Terminal.

The Peak Shaving service is one of the emergency measures established by the Decree of the Ministry of the Economic Development within the ‘Emergency Plan’ to face unfavourable events for the national gas system, which may happen during the winter period of the Gas Year 2017/2018, and to guarantee the security of the Italian Gas System. In case of emergency this service would allow, starting from 1 January 2018 to 31 March 2018, the re-delivery of gas in the network – previously unloaded and stocked into the tanks of the terminal – at short notice with the aim to face peak requests of the gas system for a limited period of time.
