Svitzer appoints new MDs

Svitzer has announced that it has appointed Marc Niederer as Managing Director (MD) of Svitzer Americas and Kasper Friis Nilaus as Group Vice President and MD of Svitzer Europe.
Mr Niederer has been with Svitzer for five years, most recently as the MD of Svitzer Europe. He has successfully turned around Svitzer’s business in Europe and has significant experience within Harbour Towage operations.
Mr Nilaus joined Svitzer in 2007 as Business Development Manager and was later appointed Head of Business Development. Since 2015, he has been CCO of Svitzer. A new CCO for Svitzer will be announced in due time.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Henriette H. Thygesen, said: “After evaluating Svitzer’s opportunities in the current challenging business environment, we have chosen to make a few changes to the Svitzer Leadership Team. Our objectives are firstly to set the strongest team to take Svitzer forward and continue our success despite difficult markets. Secondly, we want to ensure continuity. Thirdly, we would like to allow some of our most talented colleagues to develop in new and exciting roles.”
Svitzer also confirmed that it expects to announce a new role for Martin Helweg in the Maersk Group shortly.
