India in talks with South Korea and Japan regarding LNG purchasing alliance

According to Reuters, India has recommenced discussions with Japan and South Korea regarding an LNG purchasing alliance. China may also be involved in the alliance. India’s state-owned GAIL Ltd is reportedly leading the discussions.
The Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, reportedly commented: “For the next two to three decades, gas is going to be a major part of the energy basket for Asian energy consumers.
“We want to bring together the countries and form a network which can together source reasonable, rational and affordable LNG.”
