Dual-fuel tug launched at Gondan Shipyard

Gondan Shipyard has announced that the third dual-fuel tug ever built in Europe has been launched. The vessel is the last in a series of three currently being built at Gondan for Norwegian ship owner, Østensjø Rederi.

The vessel is 40.2 m long, has a beam of 16 m, and will provide tug services to Norway’s Statoil at the terminal at Melkøya. The vessel has been designed to operate in freezing temperatures, and is specially shaped to enable full operational availability at temperatures as low as -20°C.

The tug will use LNG in the majority of its operations, but will be capable of using diesel as well, ensuring a high level of operational security.

Over the next few months, the vessel will remain moored at the yard’s quay, whilst it outfitted according to the best shipbuilding standards, until completion. Upon completion, the vessel will undergo sea trials before eventually being delivered in 2017.

Elenger brings five LNG cargoes to the region this spring

Elenger has started preparations for the next heating season, with three LNG cargoes to arrive at the Inkoo terminal in Finland and two at the Klaipeda LNG terminal in Lithuania.
