Chevron launches scheme to promote careers in the energy industry

LNG Industry,

Chevron’s inaugural ‘Powering Careers in Energy’ (PCE) initiative is offering students in Western Australia a unique insight into a career in the energy industry.

Chevron Australia’s PCE initiative incorporates LNG-related studies within the academic programme of 60 students from five primary and high schools in Western Australia. The initiative has a curriculum of five units covering the science of the energy industry, essential skills and work requirements for a career in energy, as well as learning about Chevron’s work safety program.

‘Powering Careers in Energy’ is endorsed by the WA Curriculum Council and counts towards WACE graduation.

Kaye Butler, Chevron Australia Human Resources General Manager, said: “Chevron recognises that a new generation of young minds will soon be discovering and shaping our world’s energy future, which is why we choose to invest in quality education and training programmes.”

The ‘Powering Careers in Energy’ initiative also includes a five-day camp, with visits to Chevron’s offices in Perth,  the Australian Centre for Energy and Process Training (ACEPT), the CSIRO Laboratory and SciTech.

The first five schools to implement the PCE programme are Hamilton Senior High School, Onslow Primary School, Exmouth District High School, Gilmore College and Pinjarra Senior High School.
