LNG Industry,
Millennium Stimulation Services Ltd has announced that it has successfully tested its first Energized Natural Gas (ENGTM) high rate pumper, using LNG as the main working liquid for well fracturing – and stimulation – operations. The test was conducted in order to simulate field operating systems and the intended application, in order to test and confirm the operability of the ENG pumper, as well as its control and monitoring systems. In addition to this, the test confirmed that Millennium was meeting its worker and environmental safety conditions. The company expects that its ENG equipment and process will be used to fracture its first well in November 2015.
In August 2015, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) issued Millennium a fourth patent relating to the use of ENG in well fracturing applications when using LNG as the primary fluid. In this patent, CIPO addressed the method of recovering natural gas from hydraulic fracturing operations.
In addition to this, in November 2015, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a third patent relating to the ENG method in fracturing operations. This patent focused on the fracturing system and method for an underground formation using both an inert purging fluid and natural gas. CIPO had issued a patent to Millennium regarding this invention in February 2015.
