First phase of Tangshan LNG commences operation

CNPC has announced that Phase 1 of the Tangshan liquefied natural gas (LNG) project has been put into operation. On 10th December, the project, located in the Caofeidian Industrial Zone in the city of Tangshan, Hebei Province, started gas delivery.

The project consists of receiving terminals, a dock and auxiliary facilities, and is designed to have an annual capacity of 10 million t of LNG. Built in two phases, Phase 1 includes 4 LNG storage tanks, each with a capacity of 160 000 m3, a dedicated unloading dock for LNG carriers with a maximum capacity of 270 000 m3, and other auxiliary facilities.

The first phases of the project has a maximum gasification capacity of 24 million m3 /d, and is capable of delivery 8.7 billion m3 of natural gas per annum. A further 4 storage tanks and another berth will be built in Phase 2.

Tangshan LNG project is a joint venture between PetroChina, Beijing Enterprises Group Company Limited, and Hebei Natural Gas Company Limited. It is CNPC's third LNG project after Jiangsu LNG and Dalian LNG projects.
