API welcomes Energy Tax Prevention Act

LNG Industry,

API, the organisation that represents more than 450 oil and natural gas companies, has applauded members of the House Energy and Power Subcommittee who today approved the Energy Tax Prevention Act. The proposed legislation would prevent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) actions that could potentially raise American energy prices and stifle the country’s fragile economic recovery. The bill would repeal EPA's authority to control greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act.

Marty Durbin, executive vice president of API, said, ‘API commends the leadership of Chairman Upton, Subcommittee Chairman Whitfield and those members of the Energy and Power Subcommittee who voted to stand up for American consumers.  We are pleased to see this legislation moving forward to prevent EPA from imposing excessive and burdensome regulations that could raise energy costs and harm our fragile economic recovery. Congress, not the EPA, is responsible for setting the energy policy of the United States.’
