Air Liquide to provide Turbo-Brayton LNG sub-cooling units

Air Liquide has announced that it will provide two ‘TBF-1050’ Turbo-Brayton LNG sub-cooling units to be installed on two 174K X-DF LNG carriers that are currently being built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI).?
The LNG carriers have been ordered by GasLog LNG Services for time charter to Shell. ??In service, the units will be used to reduce boil-off rate (BOR) by up to 1.5 tph of LNG, allowing the efficient X-DF vessels to operate at a lower natural boil-off speed.
This new product from Air Liquide is a breakthrough solution in active boil-off gas (BOG) management. It requires little maintenance (5-years maintenance-free) and the units are simpler than existing reliquefaction systems. They are also relatively compact systems (supplied on a single skid). The units can be integrated into the existing BOG management system with minimal changes, which makes them suitable for both new-construction and retrofits.
A range of Turbo Brayton plants is available in various sizes for LNG BOG management on all LNG vessel types, including LNG bunker vessels, LNG carriers and LNG-fuelled vessels. The TBF-1050 units will be delivered in 2017 for integration into the vessel’s cargo BOG management system.
