Turkish President threatens Russian gas exports

Published by , Editor
LNG Industry,

According to Reuters, the President of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan, has been angered by Russian jets flying through Turkish airspace to attack Syrian targets. Erdogan warned Russia that Turkey could always buy its gas from elsewhere. Russia is currently Turkey’s largest natural gas supplier, with Ankara buying approximately 60% of its annual intake of 50 billion m3 of natural gas from Russia.

Reuters claims that Erdogan reportedly said: “We can't accept the current situation. Russia's explanations on the air space violations are not convincing.”
