Salish Eagle transits Panama Canal

BC Ferries has announced that the Salish Eagle – the second of its three new Salish Class vessels – has successfully transited the Panama Canal, and is now en route to its final destination, British Columbia (B.C.), Canada.

The LNG dual-fuel vessel left Gdansk, Poland, on 11 February 2017, and is currently on its way up the west coast of North America. BC Ferries claims that the voyage is going well, and that the vessel is expected to arrive by late March.

The company will take final acceptance and ownership of the Salish Eagle once it arrives in B.C. Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. is responsible for the delivery of the vessel, and has contracted with a professional international ship delivery specialist.

Some of BC Ferries’ crewmembers are taking part in various legs of the journey for training and familiarisation purposes.
